However recently the T&Cs of using Oracle Java have changed and that’s why I decided to use OpenJDK instead. ![]() It used to be quite simple to do this using installers from Oracle. I hadn’t installed Java, so I decided to go to the Oracle website and download the JDK. When running the Java command on my vanilla OS I got the following error: No Java runtime present, requesting install. I’ve been an avid Python programmer for years, but recently I needed to write some code for a plugin I was developing that required Java.
